The Pot Smoker's Guide to Eliminating stank odors fast

Written by BluntPower | Jul 24, 2019 5:26:42 PM

Let's keep it real.

If you're a smoker, then you love the smell of dank Mary Jane. Why? Because you KNOW what that smell means.

...But as much as you love your bud, you probably don't love the smell of it hanging around your home right?

Even if you do, you know others don't.

What if your mom or co-worker wants to stop by?

They don't know you smoke, so you definitely don't want her walking into the house while it smells like ten-year-old stale pot. Or what if you spill your bong water? What if you drop your ashes into your carpet?

Getting caught stankin is embarassing (and sometimes expensive) situation that can almost always be avoided.

Luckily, this guide will give you the answers you need, so let's get to it:

Upkeep to Keep the Stank Out

If you really want to keep the stank at bay, you should be doing a quick weekly tidy up. This ensures that a stale smell doesn't build up and overpower every other scent in the room. Once a week, take a few minutes out of your day to do the following:

  • empty and wipe out your ashtray
  • using a disinfectant wipe, spot clean the wall near where you smoke and wipe down the table you keep your ashtray on
  • vacuum cloth furniture and carpets
  • use a fabric refresher (like Febreeze) on all fabrics
  • open up the windows and let some fresh air in for at least half an hour
  • throw your tablecloths, pillow covers, and any other linens into the laundry
  • wipe out your smoker's drawer to get rid of any loose seeds, stems, or ashes
  • burn off your favorite BluntPower incense scent

Spilled Bong Water

If you've never spilled bong water, then you don't know just how bad it smells. If you have, you know what we're talking about here. The smell of stale bong water drenching your carpets is worse than any stale smoke smell - or any smell in the known world, really. The good news is that, with a little know-how, some elbow grease, and a few hours, you can knock that bong water stank out like it never existed.

Start by using some paper towels or a cloth you don't mind throwing away to soak up as much excess water from the carpet as possible. Sprinkle enough baking soda over the whole area that it's fully coated. The baking soda will be wet because it soaks up the water along with the stench. That's normal. Let the baking soda sit until it dries (between thirty minutes and a few hours), before vacuuming it up.

After you've vacuumed up the baking soda, grab an empty, clean spray bottle. Inside, use one part white vinegar to five parts warm water, plus three drops of dish liquid. You can add two to three drops of your favorite essential oil if you want it to smell a little better. Peppermint is a strong smell that works well in these situations. Now, shake that bottle up and use it to lightly mist the area you spilled the water. Let it sit, and once it dries, give it a sniff.

If the area still smells like bong water, repeat the process again. Depending on how much you spilled and how stale it was, it could take two or three times before the smell is totally gone. While you're waiting on the carpet to smell fresh again, you can use your favorite BluntPower Air Freshener scent to keep the air smelling great.

Dropped Your Ashes

An occasional bit of ash isn't a big deal. We've all dropped out ash on the floor or table by accident, after all. But what about when you accidentally spill your ashtray all over the place? That spill can keep the area smelling like stale smoke for days if you don't do something about it. If you spilled them all over the table, good news. The cleanup process is easy. Simply wipe off the table with a disinfectant wipe or baby wipe. Grab a spray bottle with that vinegar concoction we talked about in the previous section, and spray the table down heavily. Let it sit a whole minute, and then wipe it down. The smokey ash smell should be gone.

Dropped all those ashes on the carpet? You can still get the stank out fairly fast, but the process is a little more complicated. You've got this, though, no worries. Start by vacuuming up any ashes that are sitting on top of the carpet, and try to not walk on them in the process. Walking on them will push the small bits of ash deeper into the carpet. Take some baking soda and sprinkle it on the area. Let it sit for at least ten minutes, and then vacuum it up. Give a small spritz of that vinegar solution. When it dries, there will be no more stale smokey smell left.

Clothes Smell Smokey

If you smoke enough or smoke something strong enough, a normal wash just won't get that smokey smell out. When you go to wash your clothes, add in a splash of white vinegar along with your normal laundry detergent. This will help absorb more of the smokey smell. Make sure you add a dryer sheet into the dryer for an extra scent boost.

But what if your clothes smell smokey and you don't have any time to wash them? If you have a few minutes, air them out on an outdoor clothesline. Alternatively, you could place them in the freezer for ten to twenty minutes. The cold helps to get rid of the smell. You can also use your favorite BluntPower Air Freshener scent when in a bind. Just spray once away from you, and then walk through the area. You can do this two or three times for optimal results.

The above information can help the pot smoker avoid sticky situations and get the stank out, no matter what. The most important thing you can do, however, is to keep a supply of your favorite BluntPower Air Freshener scent on hand. Just three quick sprays and it knocks the stank out fast. Not only that, but it will keep your whole house smelling fresh for days after.
