Dear Curious Stoner:
It’s now 2018 and the world is beginning to shift to a place of higher acceptance for weed and its culture. With precaution, taking that late night blunt ride with your homies is becoming less and less risky. Just keep the driver sober and roll on. But always know you are you’re most vulnerable when in a car. So be careful - whether you are in a state where it is legal to smoke weed or not. Because even in states where it’s legal, it’s NOT legal to smoke while driving. Make sure you are careful and always have a fast-acting air freshener handy.
But the reality is most of us started off getting high in car because, well, we had nowhere else to go. With legalization and decriminalization, thankfully we have more options. Luckily for us there are now nine weed-friendly states in the USA where recreational weed is currently legal to smoke:
1. Alaska
Adults 21+ are able to strap on their snowshoes and take a phat L ride to a local dispensary to pick-up up to an ounce of bud.
2. California
Cali, the king of kush since 1996. These sunkissed stoners can legally use and carry up to an ounce of weed.
3. Colorado
There are more marijuana dispensaries than Starbucks and McDonalds combined in Colorado. It’s a weed smokers paradise. Residents and tourists can buy up to 1 ounce of weed at a time.
4. Maine
This state is sticky, you can legally possess up to 2.5 ounces of weed but not legally purchase it.
5. Massachusetts
Here you and your homies can take up botany and grow up to 12 of your own plants and carry up to 1 ounce. Recreational dispensaries are to come in July 2018.
6. Nevada
These tokers 21+ can buy 1 ounce of weed or 1/8th of edibles or concentrates.
7. Oregon
You can roll around town with up to 1 ounce of weed and 4 homegrown plants.
8. Vermont
Dabble in growing your own weed plants at home, but only 2 at a time!
9. Washington
Having a Blunt Olympics may be tricky here but you can only carry up to 1 ounce of weed and a growers license is needed for home growing medicinal purposes.
10. Washington, DC
Who wouldn’t love a green gift? Here you can gift and use up to 2 ounces of weed.
